In August of 1993 Sue and Ray started their second store. They rented the South Street bottom floor of their current location and sold specialty toys and books in Warwick and brought in Capezio dancewear in Vernon. New concept : tutus to toys. The Warwick location was doing three times the business that Vernon was doing so they closed the Vernon store in March of 1996. In April of 1997 they purchased the 62 Main Street building and became the “two floors of fun” that exist today. About the Toy Chest
The Toy Chest was incorporated in November of 1987, as a full line dealer of Little Tikes® and specialty toys such as Playmobil® and Brio®. They operated out of a building on Prices Switch Road in Vernon which was owner, Sue Loughren's, dad’s machine shop before he was forced to retire due to a heart attack. In April of 1992 she and her husband, Ray, moved the store to Aviva Plaza in Vernon.
